The album was recorded over six shows held at Washington, D.C. venue the Cellar Door towards the end of 1970, less than a year after the dissolution of the band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Neil Young (and his team) put together a solid lineup of classic rock icons, indie rockers, chart toppers and a jazz singer for this years’s Bridge School Benefit concert. The artists on bill all seemed enthused to be sharing the stage with Young, and judging by his on-stage visits, the feeling was mutual.
Neil Young has been releasing archival concert albums since 2006 as part of his Archives Performance Series, and up next for that series is Live At The Cellar Door, recorded during a six night solo acoustic stand at the Cellar Door in Washington D.C. between November 30 and December 2, 1970, shortly after the release of his classic third solo album, After The Gold Rush.
