K-EARTH 101′s 3rd Annual Locks of Love
K-EARTH 101, Supercuts and Paul Mitchell have joined forces with the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles for Locks of Love Week, June 3-9 at participating Supercuts locations in Southern California. This annual event was inspired by an email from nine-year old K-EARTH 101 listener, Jo Jo Lopez, who wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love to help provide hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children with medical hair loss.
Daily recap audio & photos:
See the photos from last year’s event here.
Last year more than 800 people participated with over 8,000 inches of hair being donated to the Locks of Love organization! Help us beat those numbers this year!
Locks of Love, a not-for-profit organization, was incorporated in December of 1997 and utilizes donated hair and resources to provide hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 with medical hair loss. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.
During the week of June 3-9, 2013, every person who meets the Locks of Love guidelines below will receive a FREE haircut from an expert stylist at participating Supercuts locations in Southern California, and a free Paul Mitchell 413 Sculpting Brush (while supplies last and hair donations must meet Locks of Love donation guidelines).
Locks of Love Guidelines:
- Hair donation must be 10 inches or longer (from tip to tip)
- Layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches
- Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches
- Hair must be in a ponytail or braid before it is cut
- Hair that has been colored or permed is acceptable
- Hair that has been bleached is not usable. If unsure, ask your stylist.
After you’ve received a free haircut from an expert stylist, Supercuts will send your hair donation directly to Locks of Love!
