This story is about as bizarre as it gets. Talk about a Modern Family, Sophia Vergara is being sued by her own embryos.
She is in the midst of a bitter baby battle with her ex-fiance, Nick Loeb, over the right to two frozen embryos that were created when the pair were a couple back in 2013.
On Tuesday, a lawsuit was filed in a Louisiana court against Sophia on behalf of the fertilized eggs referred to in the documents as , Emma and Isabella.
Reportedly, Sophia and Nick spent a lot of time in Louisiana where they had a home.
According to Page Six in The New York Post, the suit argues that the embryos have the right to live so they can receive a trust that has been set up for them by Loeb.
The agreement between Sophia and Nick never spelled out what would happen in case of a break-up.
The legal documents filed are asking the court for Nick to have custody of the embryos so he can implant them in a surrogate so they can receive the trust.
Vergara’s attorney said in a statement yesterday, “The lawsuit will result in failure” (which it did here in California when Loeb tried to get the court to give him the embryos).
Meanwhile, Sophia just celebrated one year of married bliss to hunky Joe Manganiello, who she called “The love of her life.”
