By Madeline Spear

It looks like Steve Carell is in talks to be the first actor to join the cast of Warner Bros’s Minecraft Movie. The live-action film is being produced by It’s Always Sunny star, Rob McElhenney,  and is said to be released in 2019.

Minecraft, the game, was released in 2009 and quickly gained popularity throughout the gaming community. The game features a 3D world made of cubes, where players are able to build, explore, and more.

Since its release, the game has sold over 106 million copies, and has won many awards, including the best-selling PC game to date and the second best-selling video game of all time.

Carell’s success in the the Minions franchise will be sure to generate a large, and probably young, crowd for the highly anticipated film.
