Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has released a video of him singing a piano ballad rendition of his band’s raucous rebellious anthem “We’re Not Gonna take it.
Snider re-recorded the 1984 song to raise awareness for Criss Angel’s HELP (Heal Every Life Possible) charity, and Angel directed a video to promote the song, reports Team Rock. In the video, Snider, dressed in white, performs in a desert outside Las Vegas. The performance is complimented by footage of a young woman dressed in black having her head shaved while holding a photo of bald child, and children battling cancer.
“Dee and I have known each other since the 1990s and he was a strong proponent of mine for years,” Angel told the Las Vegas Review Journal. We are both from Long Island, or as we like to think of it, ‘Strong Island,’ and his record publishing company gave me the rights to the song and it is our anthem for gratis,” Angel said. “Dee was unbelievably generous with his time and participation.”
Snider will perform the acoustic “We’re Not Gonna Take It” at a HELP fundraiser auction on September 12 at the Luxor in Las Vegas. Other guests at the event will include Richie Sambora, Vince Neil, Mike Tyson, Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo, Jerry Lewis and Wayne Newton.
