Santa Monica’s California Incline To Reopen Sept. 1

SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — The California Incline is set to reopen, just in time for the long Labor Day weekend.

The roadway from Santa Monica’s Ocean Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway will be reopened again to the public on Sept. 1, after closing in April 2015 so the three-lane bridge could be demolished and rebuilt.

The $17 million project was needed because the concrete had corroded and all the trucks and buses were too heavy for it.

At the reopening celebration, people will be allowed to walk on the new bridge and see historic photos.
