Rock guitarist Jeff Beck threw an epic 50-year celebration party concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday (August 10), and during the performance the guitar legend and former Yardbirds member paid tribute to Prince with a cover of “Purple Rain.”
That’s when the place really heated up. Beth Hart performed lead vocals and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler joined in with some trademark high notes and background vocals.
Earlier in the evening Tyler performed Aerosmith’s version of the Tiny Bradshaw number “Train Kept A-Rollin” and the Yardbirds’ “Shapes of Things.”
Other guests included ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Buddy Guy, Jan Hammer and Jimmy Hall, all of whom rocked out for the celebration.
Beck released Loud Hailer, his 11th solo album, in August and is wrapping up a tour this month.
