Waze Just Made a HUGE Upgrade for Angelenos

by Crystal Zahler

Angelenos are constantly dealing with horrendous traffic. Whether it’s day or night it’s always there, which is why many have found using Waze to be helpful.

Occasionally though, the little voice that directs you to your destination gets a little risky and has you making lefts where they seem nearly impossible.

According to the L.A. Times, the company announced Wednesday that the app will not direct Angelenos towards such risky intersections. The app will take user feedback to determine which intersections are more dangerous than others and so far Waze has identified 100 difficult intersections.

Although not taking left turns might make rides longer, users will have a choice to stick with the first original route if they want to.

Waze isn’t the only company that has made adjustments due to left turns; UPS has in the past also. UPS did research on taking left turns and realized it was better to minimize or stop making lefts completely. According to UPS between 2004 and 2012 the change has saved $10 million of gas and reduced carbon emissions by 100,000 metric tons.

Right might just be the way to go!
