Wilshire Boulevard To Be Closed For Purple Line Construction Over 22 Weekends

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A series of weekend closures for portions of Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile area are set to begin Friday night, as Metro gets ready to build the future Wilshire/La Brea Station for the Purple Line Extension subway.

During each weekend, Wilshire will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. According to Metro, the work will take place in three phases:

  • Phase 1: three weekend closures between Detroit Street and La Brea Avenue. Traffic will be detoured via 6th St. and Fairfax Ave.
  • Phase 2: three weekend closures at Wilshire/La Brea intersection. Traffic will be detoured via Highland Avenue, 6th St. and Fairfax.
  • Phase 3: 16 weekend closures between La Brea and Highland avenues. Traffic will be detoured via 6th St. and Highland or 6th Street and La Brea.
