Known for their soulful hits like “Groovin’,” “A Beautiful Morning” and the peppy No.1 hit that started it all “Good Lovin’,” The Rascals‘ feel-good melodies continue to endure over generations and spread that 60s sentiment of “peace, love and happiness” to fans of all ages.
Now celebrating their 50th anniversary, one of the founders, keyboardist/vocalist Felix Cavaliere is performing the group’s hits live in concert tonight in Malibu. Felix joined The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show to talk about this 50th Anniversary show and share some musical memories.
In his impressive 50-year music career, Felix has collaborated and performed with dozens of artists from Billy Joel to Bruce Springsteen, but we asked him if there’s one artist in particular he would like to share the stage with that he hasn’t yet.
“Well sharing a stage today is a big endeavor because these guys have huge stages,” he laughed. “I’ve worked with Billy Joel…I’ve sat in with Bruce Springsteen, kind of worked with Ringo [Starr], but I’d like to sit in with Stevie Wonder.”
Now there’s a collaboration we’d like to hear.
But for now, you can catch Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals live in concert tonight (Thursday, January 22) at 8 p.m. at the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts at Pepperdine University. Tickets cost $25 – $55 and can be purchased online at www.arts.pepperdine.edu, via phone at 310-506-4522 or in person at 24255 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
