We already have our Captain Hook, and now the leading man (or in this case, woman) has been cast for NBC’s highly anticipated production of Peter Pan Live.
Actress Allison Williams, best known for her role on the HBO series Girls, has been tapped to play the adventurous boy who never grows up in the live telecast.
“I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,” said Williams in a press statement via Entertainment Weekly. “It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”
Though she may feel a little nervous about the part, NBC execs seem to have full faith in Williams to pull off the role.
“We couldn’t be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan,” said NBC chief Robert Greenblatt. “She’s a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls—where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent—and we think she will bring the perfect blend of ‘boyish’ vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken’s powerful Captain Hook.”
And fun fact, Allison Williams is the daughter of NBC Nightly News anchor, Brian Williams. Peter Pan Live will air on Dec. 4th.
