Happy Throwback Thursday!
This morning, Gary Bryan and Lisa Stanley are saluting the year 1986. This was the year we had a new heavy weight champ by the name of Mike Tyson! Plus, thousands of Americans held hands from coast to coast in the Hands Across America fundraiser to help the nation’s hungry and homeless.
This was also the year big hits like Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone,” Stacy Q’s “Two Of Hearts” and Prince’s “Kiss” were blowing up the charts!
Listen to more music and memories from the year 1986 in the clip below.
Plus, in honor of our interview with American Idol host Harry Connick Jr. this morning, Gary dug up an old photo of him meeting Harry!
Harry stopped by Gary’s former morning show at Z100 in New York in 1990 to play some tunes and talk about composing the soundtrack to the hit Rob Reiner rom-com When Harry Met Sally.
This soundtrack put Harry Connick Jr. on the charts with his versions of classic standards like “It Had to Be You,” “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” and “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.” The soundtrack achieved double-platinum status and earned HC Jr. his first GRAMMY award for Best Jazz Male Vocal Performance.

Lisa Stanley also shared her throwback Thursday photo from 1980 when she was just a young surfer girl in Del Mar!
