With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant delivered an emotional tribute to his mom upon receiving the MVP Award Tuesday, reports Yahoo Sports.
In his speech, Durant thanked everyone who’s helped him along the way to become MVP of the NBA, including his teammates, coaches, Oklahoma City and more, but it was his special, moving tribute to his mother, Wanda Pratt, that brought the whole room to tears.
“The odds were stacked against us. Single parent with two boys, by the time we were twenty-one years old, everybody told us we weren’t supposed to be here,” Durant said through tears. “We moved from apartment to apartment by ourselves. One of the best memories I have was when we moved into our first apartment no bed, no furniture and we all just sat in the living room and just hugged each other, because we thought we made it.”
He added “You made us believe, you kept us off the street, put clothes on our backs, food on the table…you sacrificed for us, you’re the real MVP.”
Watch his entire MVP speech below, but grab the tissues, because this is a real tear-jerker.
