Staples Center Hosting Four Playoff Games In Four Days

Los Angeles is taking backs its title of being the ‘sports capital of America’ with both The LA Clippers and LA Kings currently competing in their respective championship series.

That means the downtown L.A. Live area will be buzzing with ‘fandemonium’ as Staples Center takes on the challenge of hosting four playoff games in four days! Both LA teams are bringing back their playoff series games for a home court/home ice advantage starting this Thursday, May 8th at 7pm as the Kings host the Anaheim Ducks in game 3 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Staples Center crews will the convert the arena from hockey rink to hardwood basketball court for Friday’s game as the Clippers take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in game 3 of the NBA playoffs. Converting a hockey ice rink to basketball Court takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete.

Fans are encouraged to come down early for free pre-game fan fests hosted outside Staples Center and Nokia Plaza at L.A. Live that feature interactive games, giveaways and  beer garden.

Since opening in October 1999, STAPLES Center has completed more than 155 doubleheaders in fifteen seasons, according to the press release.

Here’s the full schedule of playoff games:

Thursday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. – Kings vs. Anaheim Ducks (Game 3)

  • Free Pre-Game Fan Fest: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Friday, May 9th at 7:30 p.m. – Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (Game 3)

  • Free Pre-Game Fan Fest: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 10th at 6:30 p.m. – Kings vs. Anaheim Ducks (Game 4)

  • Free Pre-Game Fan Fest: 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, May 11th at 12:30 p.m. – Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (Game 4)

  • Free Pre-Game Fan Fest: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
