After the arrest of Paul Simon and wife Edie Brickell made headlines across the globe last week, the couple responded to the incident in the best way they know how – through song.
The musical couple assured fans that despite the public incident, they’re working through their problems by releasing a duet titled “I’d Like To Get To Know You Again,” posted on Edie’s website on Wednesday. Both artists tagged each other in a tweet with a link to announce the duet earlier this week.

A whimsical, folksy tune, Paul harmonizes softly in the background as Edie takes the lead in the song about the trials and tribulations of relationships capped with the hopeful chorus, “I wouldn’t trade places with anyone/none of them/cause I’d like to get know you again.”
According to Billboard, new details reveal it was Simon who made the initial 911 call that prompted police response to the couple’s home in New Canaan, CT after he hung up on the call. The police report indicates that Simon, 72, and Brickell, 48, became physical with one another after Brickell reportedly confronted Simon about something he did to “break her heart.”
Brickell told police that Simon shoved her and she slapped him during the altercation. After a court appearance Monday, Simon assured the judge that “both of us are fine together,” and neither consider the other a threat. The couple is due back in court on May 16th.
