Nancy Cartwright Talks ‘Simpsons’ Lego Episode, Charity Poker Tournament & More
You know her and love her as the voice of Bart Simpson, and this morning Nancy Cartwright joined The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show live in studio to talk about her annual charity poker tournament and her legacy with The Simpsons, which celebrates its 550th episode this Sunday!
This Sunday will feature a special episode when The Simpsons meet Lego as all the characters are turned into the popular building blocks. Nancy herself says it’s a must-see episode.
“I went in for some post production on that [episode] and when I go in to do some final voices to kind of clean it up a little bit, I get a little bit of a preview of what the public will see, and it looks amazing! I was so blown away,” teased Nancy on the Simpsons Lego episode.
This September, Nancy and the rest of the Simpsons crew will be on hand for an exciting Hollywood Bowl 25th anniversary fireworks show celebrating the music of The Simpsons.
“It’s about the music, because it’s the Hollywood Bowl,” said Nancy. “I’m going to be a part of it no matter what, I will definitely be there in some sort of fashion and I’m not going to give it away.”
So what’s her favorite musical moment from The Simpsons? Without a doubt, Nancy says it’s the Mary Poppins episode.
“That’s one of my favorite ones because it’s so tongue and cheek and satire to the best definition of the word,” she said. “The familiarity with ‘The Sound Of Music’ when you hear the lyrics and the music on that episode, it reminds you of so much of Julie Andrews.”
From her success as the voice of Bart Simpson, Nancy has used her good fortune to help the community through her non-profit children’s organization Happy House. Every year, Nancy hosts a big fundraiser bash at her own home to help raise money for after school programs that gives children “guidance to have a better life” through the Foundation.
Now in its 9th year, Nancy says this year’s Happy House Texas Hold ‘Em & Family Party is bigger and better than before. It all takes place at the ‘House That Bart Built’ on Saturday, May 17th and has a little something for the grownups and the kids with a poker tournament, BBQ (this year sponsored by Whole Foods), prizes, games and much more! Plus, you’ll be contributing to a good cause.
Just some of the few amazing prizes for the tournament include a table read at The Simpsons with a Bart Basket and signed script, a fly-along with the LAPD Air Support Division, a collectors edition Legos Simpsons set, signed by members of the cast and crew, LA Racing packages complete with real race car driving, tickets to the Teen Choice Awards, Micheal Blublé goodie package, Disneyland Park Hopper tickets and much more. This year’s event is also sponsored by Galpin Ford, who will be bringing a Mustang to the party to have on display!
The 9th Annual Happy House Texas Hold ‘Em & Family Party is being held at Nancy’s house on Saturday, May 17th from 3-8pm. Doors open at 1pm with outdoor BBQ, open wine and beer bar, plus fun and games for the kids! It’s $100 to buy-in to the tournament with $10 re-buys or $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12 just to attend the party. Tickets are available at happyhouse.org.
