We kind of knew this was going to happen after CBS named Stephen Colbert as the new host of the Late Show when David Letterman steps down in 2015. The host of The Late Late Show, Craig Ferguson has announced that he’s “consciously uncoupling” with the network.
Ferguson made the decision Monday to exit his post on The Late Late Show when his contract expires at the end of the year, and said it was his decision to leave.
The 51-year-old Scottish comedian made the announcement during the taping of his show on Monday, saying “at the end of this year, I will be stepping down as the host of this show…then I’ll go and do something else. Probably I’m thinking carpentry.”
He stressed that it was his decision alone to leave the show and that it was not a Jay Leno-Conan thing where the network was pushing him out.
Craig’s last Late Late Show will be in December.
