Now that the stress of tax season has drawn to a close, it’s time to get out and preemptively spent that return.

Of course with Easter Sunday landing on another unofficial pseudo-holiday in 4/20, there will be a litany of green-themed nonsense, but we have assembled a solid list of alternatives that give you good reason to get off the couch.

Smoke yourself stupid later, there is plenty to do right now.

COMEDY: CARLOS MENCIA AT THE BREA IMPROV

Whether you love him or hate him, it’s hard to argue that Carlos Mencia still knows how to pack ‘em in when it comes to stand-up comedy. Performing three straight nights at the Brea Improv, the former host of the Comedy Central show Mind of Mencia, grabs the mic to barrel through his brand of angst-riddled humor.

TRIPPY: PINK FLOYD LASER SPECTACULAR AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES ANAHEIM

The Paramount Laser Spectacular utilizes the music of legendary rock icons Pink Floyd set to a unique visual production that is two hours and twenty minutes that can best be described as mind-bending. Responsible for one of the most visually engaging films with The Wall, it only makes sense to use Pink Floyd as the soundtrack for a gnarly laser show.

FILM: “HARVEY” AT THE BOWERS MUSEUM OF CULTURAL ART

Classic cinema is always a win and a James Stewart film is about as classic as it gets. The 1950 release Harvey is the story of a man that is suspected to be a bit loony as he claims his companion is a 6-foot invisible rabbit. A beautifully crafted tale of that challenges what it is to be normal, this is one of those movies that everyone needs to see at least once.

FOOD: THE ART OF SUSHI COOKING CLASS AT THE HOOD KITCHEN SPACE

Premier catering service The Prince & The Pantry host unique cooking classes and this one is crucial for anyone that enjoys sushi. Students get the chance to work at The Hood Kitchen Space, a commercial quality kitchen that is part party, and suitable for any top notch chef. Lean everything from miso to hand rolls in a way that will allow you to go hip and host a sushi party of your own.

FOOD: CURBSIDE BITES AT CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY

A midday meal from a gourmet food truck is amped when you can cruise the Old Town charm of The Circle in Orange. Chapman University hosts a cavalcade tasty trucks serving up unique dishes for lunch every week via Curbside Bites. With a rotating schedule of trucks, variety makes this a no-brainer for lunch on Wednesdays.

MUSIC: FULLY FULLWOODS LIVE REGGAE SUNDAY AT DON THE BEACHCOMBER

Legendary reggae bassist Fully Fullwoods has worked with everyone from Bob Marley to Peter Tosh to Gregory Issacs. The man himself curates an afternoon of reggae roots at the tiki paradise known as Don The Beachcomberhttps://www.facebook.com/sharkcluborangecounty. Live bands and a DJ crank traditional reggae soul while patrons sip on Mai-Tais and here’s the kicker – all proceeds from the door go to local charities.

MUSIC: IAMSU AT SHARK CLUB

Still a prospect in hip hop music, most might not readily recognize IamSu’s name, but they know the songs he’s contributed to. Responsible for quick hit wit on tracks like E-40’s “Function” and Sage The Gemini’s “Gas Pedel” to name a few. IamSU has recently made a name for himself with tracks of his own like “Only That Real”, the club collab with 2 Chainz that is now a DJ favorite. Sudan Williams makes a club stop at the Shark this week and the dancefloor is likely to be movin’.
