‘Sabotage’ Star Joe Manganiello On Filming With Arnold Schwarzenegger: “It Was Like Man Camp”
Joe Manganiello, the hunky Hollywood star of Magic Mike and the True Blood series, joined The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show this morning to talk about his new action flick Sabotage, in theaters now.
Joe stars in Sabotage opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, which he describes as a “really bad-ass action movie.”
“It’s a really gritty cop movie about a federal agent fighting the drug war. Arnold Schwarzenegger – it’s a return to form for him to those really gritty action movie roles he played at the beginning, Conan The Barbarian, The Terminator,” said Joe. “We all play these drug enforcement agents who are good guys fighting for our safety, but they have to operate in a very, very bad world, and so there’s a lot of dirt on these guys.”
Joe told us what it was like filming an action flick with Arnold saying, “he’s in phenomenal shape, he’s still got it. He’s an icon. He walks into a room and he’s got presence, you know he’s there.”
Starring alongside an A-team cast that also includes Sam Worthington, Josh Holloway, Terrence Howard and more, Joe says that filming with these guys was “like man camp.”
“It was awesome. We all really, really got along and everybody worked really hard. Our goal was to make the most technically-realistic film about the drug war ever made,” he said.
Not only is Joe an action star on film, but also a published author of the hit weight-lifting book called Evolution:The Cutting Edge Guide to Breaking Down Mental Walls and Building the Body You’ve Always Wanted.
“Arnold wrote the foreword to it actually, and there’s going to be a series of books – the book is doing so well. There’s so many people out there using it in gyms that there’s going to be an entire series,” said Joe.
Obviously, Joe has legions of female fans, so we had to ask – what is the strangest thing fans have done to get his attention?
“It happens all the time. People want me to ‘take your shirt off, take your pants off, growl at me,’ you know,” Joe laughed. “You get all that and that’s like a Tuesday.”
Sabotage is in theaters nationwide now! Listen to our complete interview with Joe Manganiello below.
