Get ready to rock to the soulful sounds of two of the biggest classic acts of the ’70s/’80s. Toto and Michael McDonald have announced a co-headlining summer tour that will makes its way across the US and Canada!

Both Toto and Michael McDonald announced the news on Tuesday via their respected band sites. Both acts have been long-time friends and have even worked together in 1982 when Toto members Mike Porcaro, Jeff Porcaro and Steve Lukather played on McDonald’s debut solo effort If That’s What It Takes.

“I so look forward to the dates I’ll play with Toto this summer,” said McDonald in a joint press release, reports Ultimate Classic Rock. “Not only because they’re old friends but also because they’re one of the most talented and significant American bands.”

Toto keyboardist Steve Porcaro also shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming tour, saying “I can’t wait to get out on the road with Michael McDonald and his band. There is some deep history between us and it’s always a great hang. Michael surrounds himself with the best people, the crowds are great, and I, for one, never tire of hearing his amazing band play and hearing those classic songs sung by one of my all-time favorites.”

Toto are six-time Grammy award winners best known for a string of top five hits including, “Hold the Line,” “Rosanna,” and “Africa.” Michael McDonald, a five-time Grammy award winner himself, got his start singing back-up in Steely Dan before joining The Doobie Brothers in the late ’70s. He’s since flourished with a solo career that includes hits like “Yah Mo B There,” “Heard It Through The Grapevine” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

Tickets for the joint summer tour go on sale on March 28th and 29th. Visit michaelmcdonald.com or totoofficial.com for the complete tour details on special VIP packages. More dates to be added soon, according to the bands’ official sites. See the full tour dates below.
