New Roy Orbison Track To Appear On ‘Mystery Girl’ Reissue

Roy Orbison’s final album Mystery Girl, released posthumously two months after the singer’s death in 1989, is getting a special 25th anniversary reissue this summer that will include unreleased demos and new song.

Rolling Stone reports that the new Orbison track, “The Way Is Love,” was completed by the singer’s three sons, Wesley, Alex and Roy Jr., by working with their father’s vocals originally recorded on a boombox. They also contributed guitar, drums and backing vocals to the final track that was produced by John Carter Cash.

The new song will be included on the ‘expanded’ reissue of Mystery Girl along with other bonus tracks. A second ‘deluxe’ release will include the hour-long documentary Mystery Girl: Unraveled, which takes a deeper look at the album track-by-track with interviews from the producers, Jeff Lynne, Mike Campbell, Barbara Orbison and Bono. The deluxe version also has eight Orbison music videos, four of which are unreleased.

Both editions of Roy Orbison’s Mystery Girl reissue will be available on May 20.
