It was a star-studded night at the 86th Annual Academy Awards Sunday night at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater. Ellen DeGeneres hosted the Oscars for the second time Sunday, seven years after her first, and brought the laughs right from the start in her opening monologue.

Ellen made a few light-hearted jabs at some of the A-listers sitting in the audience including poking fun at Jennifer Lawrence’s embarrassing fall while accepting her award last year (and tripping on the red carpet that night), Jonah Hill’s exposing scene in The Wolf Of Wall Street, and one jab at Liza Minnelli that some had thought crossed the line just a tad.

In her monologue noting all the famous faces in the crowd, Ellen joked, “I have to say one of the most amazing Liza Minnelli impersonators I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” was in the audience then noting, “Good job, sir.”

Needless to say, Liza didn’t seem too pleased by the joke when the camera cut to her for a reaction (skip to 2 minutes in the video below).

Later that night, Ellen tried to patch things up by taking a selfie with Liza and later tweeting it with the caption “Besties,” but Liza still didn’t look too pleased with the host.

So what did you think of Ellen’s joke about Liza Minnelli? Was it too mean or all in good fun? Vote below!
