The night kicked off with big laughs as Jimmy introduced himself to the audience and viewers in his opening monologue as “I am Jimmy Fallon and I will be your host — for now,” referring to the controversial host history with Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien.

His first show featured a slew of celebrity guests including Will Smith, musical guest U2 and walk-on cameos from friends including Robert De Niro, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Mike Tyson and Joe Namath, who all bet him $100 he wouldn’t be host of the Tonight Show.

“To my buddy who said that I’d never be the host of ‘The Tonight Show,’ and you know who you are,” Fallon said, “you owe me a hundred bucks, buddy.”

Jimmy later teamed up with guest Will Smith to do a break down of the evolution of hip-hop dancing in some ’90s inspired overalls and t-shirts.
