Robert David Hall On Celebrating His 300th Episode On ‘CSI’ Tonight
Actor Robert David Hall may be best known for his role as coroner Dr. Albert Robbins M.D. on the hit CBS show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, but many fans may not know that Robert comes from a radio and music background!
Robert joined The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show in studio this morning to talk about his incredible career as Dr. Robbins on CSI, plus tell us about his background in radio and music.
Being the coroner on the show, one of the strange questions Robert faces all the time from fans is if they can be a body on his autopsy table.
“People come up and say ‘can I be a body on CSI?’ and I go ‘you’ll have to talk to your agent,’” he said. “Don’t ask me why. I think that would be the most horrible thing. I see these beautiful women on the slab and I think ‘their poor parents are going to watch the show and they’re going to weep copious tears.’”
So what about having to learn all the medical lingo for the show? Robert explains that personal experience has prepared him to take on the difficult scripts.
“As a young man I spent about eight months in a hospital and have been around too much medical stuff, but we have wonderful consultants,” he said.”If I have a problem, I’ll call my own doctor or I’ll call some of these pathologists that I’ve met in the last fourteen years.”
After originally being hired to be in just one scene in episode five on the show, Robert is now celebrating his personal 300th episode on CSI in tonight’s episode. He says he owes his fourteen-year career all to co-star William Petersen.
“Billy looked at me and said ‘he’d be a good coroner’ and 300 episodes later…” he said. “I’ve never done anything for fourteen years except CSI.”
Tonight, Robert will be celebrating his special milestone by live tweeting the east coast feed of CSI after just having joined Twitter this week! You can follow Robert at @RobertDHall119 and join in the conversation!
“I’m so proud to be able to say ‘I pulled the bullet out of the fanny, now go find the murderer,’ but once every so often I get to do an episode featuring my character, and tonight’s the night,” said Robert.
Don’t miss Robert’s big 300th episode “De Los Muertos” on CSI tonight at 10pm on CBS!
On the side, Robert tells us that he also dabbles in music and has even recorded an album of all original songs he recorded in Austin titled Things They Don’t Teach You In School. Listen to a clip of the title track in our full interview with Robert below.
