Son Surprises His Seahawks Superfan Mom With Super Bowl XLVIII Tickets
Looks like someone just won the ‘Son of the Year’ award, because one son’s incredible Super Bowl surprise for his mother is going to be a tough one for anyone to top.
YouTube user Mike Harris uploaded a video of his Seattle Seahawks-loving mom opening up a surprise package with tickets to the Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium. Needless to say, her reaction to the gift was priceless.
In the video description, Harris writes that his mom became a Seahawks fan in 1976 and “after a 9-7 finish in the 1983 season, the Seahawks made their way to the AFC Championship by beating Miami in the Divisional round of their first playoff run (after knocking off Denver in the Wild Card round). That night, mom wanted to go to Boeing Field to welcome back the Hawks, like I know a lot of people will be planning to do after this Sunday, but my dad wouldn’t let her go. She was pregnant with me, due in three months. She missed that opportunity, and the Hawks went on to lose to the hated Raiders that year.”
Having felt guilty on being part of the reason she missed out on this opportunity, Harris decided to pull the trigger on a deal he found on Super Bowl XLVIII tickets to send his mom to the championship game so she can cheer on her team.
“Thirty years after she skipped their welcome home for my sake, I was able to return the favor in the biggest way I could ever think of. I’m excited to go see the game, but there was nothing more meaningful than to see my mom’s reaction that I’ve shared in the video,” Harris writes.
Here are the multiple stages of emotion our Seahawks-loving mom goes through in one minute:
3. Denial “no, no they’re not”
4. Disbelief “no way, we can’t do this!”
5. Overwhelming happiness it reduces her to tears
