Well, it’s game day for the Eagles, who kick off a six night concert series for the grand reopening of the ‘Fabulous’ Forum in Inglewood tonight. The man of the hour, Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, joined The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show live on air to talk about these monumental shows, the Forum’s incredible $100 million revitalization and what fans can expect at tonight’s kick off show.

Joe and the gang recently did their soundcheck in the new and improved Forum last night, and tells us that music fans are in for a treat with all the improvements made to the venue.

“I’d have to say that it’s more of a performing arts center than anything. It’s a wonderful venue and it sounds great. They put a lot of care into it,” he said, noting that they rebuilt the venue with music concerts specifically in mind.

With the original “shell” in tact, the Forum has upgraded to a 10,000 seat concert hall with a state of the art sound system to get the very best out of every musical experience.

One of the newly renovated features at the Forum is the makeover of the historic Forum Club, which is re-imagined with “thematic music-inspired detailing,” according to the Forum’s website.

“I got thrown out of the Forum Club a lot of times and I look forward to getting thrown out again,” Joe joked. He explained that the Forum Club saved Dr. Jerry Buss’ private room for VIP ticket holders, there are bars where you can hang out and watch the show, and most importantly (and I’m sure all the ladies will agree) there are enough bathrooms so “you don’t have to wait in line to pee.”

So what does Joe Walsh do to get ready on game day for a show? Unlike his old party days in the band’s early years, Joe’s routine consists of more healthier lifestyle choices to prep for a show.

“Well it used to be I was still up, but no, I discovered sleep and that helped a lot,” he laughed. “To do what we gotta do, we really have to take care of ourselves…I get up, I go to the gym, take care of myself, I eat right.”

With a huge catalog of hit songs to choose from to play live, Joe says the song he’s most looking forward to playing tonight is the band’s signature hit “Hotel California.”

“That song is still a challenge to play right. Some of the songs are automatic pilot, but ‘Hotel California’ I really do have to pay attention to what’s going to get it right,” he said. “‘Hotel California’ in the new Forum with the weather we’ve been having is as Southern California as it gets.”

Joe is just excited about reopening this cherished SoCal venue as fans are to see the Eagles play.

“I’m so happy they saved the Forum, because in Southern California…that’s heritage baby,” said Joe.
