It’s been 13 years since hit Fox drama 24 first premiered and five since Jack Bauer left our TV sets, but this summer, Fox is rebooting the series for a mini-season set to premiere on May 5th.
Titled Live Another Day, Fox’s mini-reboot of 24 will feature the return of its star Keifer Sutherland in his role as Jack Bauer and Mary Lynn Rajskub reprising Jack’s former sidekick Chloe, according to Hollywood Reporter.
On Monday, Sutherland faced the media at the Television Critics Association press conference where he admitted that he’s a little frightened about rebooting the show.
“Until we start shooting, everything is kind of intangible and up in the air,” said Sutherland. “I’m as anxious as I’ve been in a long time. I’m nervous.”
Sutherland told the press that he feels pressure to not let down fans during the 12-episode run, which will feature its signature real-time format. Production begins in London in two weeks and the show will pick up four years after Jack Bauer was basically left a fugitive.
Live Another Day‘s premise sounds good – a fugitive for four years, Jack is now being hunted by the CIA for a new mission.
“If this ends up rebooting the show or causing a film to be made, so be it, but we’re very happy about these 12 episodes right now,” said Sutherland about the future of 24.”The script for the film is very different. It’s an ongoing situation, and there’s always an opportunity to do it.”
