A brand new action-thriller is coming to CBS Monday nights beginning today (Jan 13th) when Intelligence moves to its regular 10 p.m. time slot. This action-packed show stars Josh Holloway, who played Sawyer on Lost, as the show’s star Gabriel, and this morning Josh called into the K-EARTH 101 Morning Show to talk about taking on this new role.
“It’s game day. I’m pretty excited, a little nervous. I expect it to fluctuate as they do before it settles in to an audience. People hang in there, it just gets better,” said Josh. “It’s a completely different thing, completely different premise [from Lost]… I like playing a spy – it keeps you tight.”
Josh stars as a high-tech intelligence operative who is outfitted with a super-computer microchip in his brain making him the first human ever to be directly connected to the global information grid. With his microchip, his character can hack into any data center and access needed intel to fight enemies and protect the United States.
This type of technology is not that far away into the future, either, as Josh notes. This type of human enhancement of implanting microchips into humans is already being tested out, but when we asked Josh if he’d ever be willing to have a chip implanted in his brain in real life, his feelings are polar opposite of his character.
“No way man,” he laughed. “I couldn’t do it because I’m not so tech savvy anyways, so I’d probably have a lot harder time controlling my own computer than most people would. I would have to Frisbee myself into the walls to make it work, that wouldn’t be good.”
Josh certainly makes being the world’s first super-human computer look thrilling on screen. One thing is for sure, fans won’t be disappointed with amount of action and suspense punched in to each episode.
“It’s a fast-paced, fun, action-packed spy show. It’s like Disneyland for dudes, and girls too,” Josh joked.
Not only is Intelligence full of non-stop action, it features a star-studded cast with CSI’s Marg Helgenberger as Lillian Strand, the director of the elite government cyber-security agency and Meghan Ory as Riley Neal, a secret service agent hired to protect Gabriel.
