While speaking on stage at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, director Michael Bay, who’s behind big blockbuster action flicks like Transformers and Armageddon, apparently wasn’t able to handle the heat of the spotlight.
Bay appeared on stage Monday for a presentation to talk about Samsung’s new 105-inch ultra high definition curved HDTVs when an apparent teleprompter malfunction caused Bay to completely freeze up during his planned speech, reports Huffington Post.
After Samsung’s Joe Stinziano asked Bay what inspires him to come up with his “unbelievable ideas” in his movies, Bay started to answer before trailing off and blaming the teleprompter saying, “the type is all off. Sorry. But I’ll just wing this.”
Stinziano tried to get Bay back on track by asking him how the new Samsung TVs will better the movie experience at home for viewers. However unable to “wing it,” Bay choked up mid-sentence and apologized to the crowd before walking off stage.
Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES — I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down — then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing. But I’m doing a special curved screen experience with Samsung and Transformers 4 footage that will be traveling around the world.Michael
