After guitarist and songwriter Richie Sambora abruptly dropped out of Bon Jovi’s “Because We Can” tour last April, the musician revealed that plans to return to the group aren’t completely off the table.
During an appearance at the 82nd Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade Sunday (Dec. 1), Sambora talked to K-EARTH 101 on the red carpet about the reason he left Bon Jovi and any future plans to rejoin the band.

He said that he’d consider returning to the band “down the road” but at this point in time, Sambora is enjoying taking time off from touring.
“There’s no plans. They’re still on the road,” he said. “I just needed a break. Thirty years on the road was enough for me.”
Though he’s taking some time away from the group, Sambora says he’s using his down time wisely by continuing to write while spending time with the people who matter most to him.
“I’m writing. I’m spending time with my daughter, which is very important,” he added. “People don’t understand when you’re out there, it’s 24/7. You lose a lot of life.”
Now that the Christmas season is here, Sambora’s family takes center stage. On what his holiday plans are this year, he said he’s looking forward to “stay home first” and of course everything that comes with the holiday season like “the tree, the food.”
Sambora performed a duet with the one and only Stevie Wonder at the annual Hollywood Christmas Parade. The entire parade will air locally on KTLA 5 Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. and again on Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. For more airtimes, click here.
