It was a night of disco, dancing, and spook-tacular costumes scattered throughout the Hollywood Palladium Friday night for K-EARTH 101′s monster Halloween party, BOO-gie BASH!

The kings of disco KC & The Sunshine Band headlined the night playing all their hits from the ’70s and beyond, kicking off with “Shake Shake Shake (Shake Your Booty)” that had more booties shaking on the dance floor than a Miley Cyrus music video.

The 62-year-old frontman, Harry Casey, delighted the crowd with a mix of the group’s biggest hits like “Boogie Shoes,” “Please Don’t Go,” “I’m Your Boogie Man,” and “That’s The Way,” as well as a sprinkle of ’60s hits featured on a covers project he’s currently working on.

In between the music, KC bantered with the audience, joking that at 62 years old, he should re-name the band “KFC and the Sunshine Band” as a result of adding a few pounds over the years after he quit smoking. He quipped to the younger fans in the crowd that in their hey-day, KC was “your mother’s ‘N SYNC”  and predicted that he’s what Justin Timberlake will “look like in 20 years…and Justin Bieber in 100.”

However, KC certainly didn’t show his age and churned out hit after hit during his high-energy performance, topping off the night with a lively rendition of “Get Down Tonight” that ended with a big finish of colorful streamers erupting from the ceiling and showering down on the cheering crowd.

Getting the crowd warmed up for the night was the ultimate ’70s tribute band, The Boogie Knights, who performed all the disco favorites including “Boogie Nights, “Staying Alive,” “You Should Be Dancing,” and a audience-participation of the “YMCA.”

The incredible dance music was just the tip of the iceberg of the evening. Guests enjoyed limitless entertainment throughout the night including the $1,000 costume contest, which went to a clever man dressed as a groom trapped in a cage by his bride.

There was also a Tarot card  and palm reader telling fortunes in the Champagne Room, a ‘Fright Night’ photo booth, a Disco dance troupe getting the crowd to boogie down on the dance floor, 70s style go-go dancers who stole the spotlight on their pedestals, and a “Thriller” Flash mob that was overrun with the living dead.

Our audience certainly didn’t disappoint in the costume department, either. From 70s disco dances, pirates, a Ronald McDonald look-a-like, a very convincing Edward Scissorhands, and even a group of zombie doctors, our listeners came dressed to impress for Halloween.

Even our K-EARTH 101 DJs came out in costume for the party with Jim Carson and Christian Wheel dressed as pimps, Lisa Stanley as Wonder Woman, Shotgun Tom Kelly as a disco jock and Christina Kelley as a spooky spider.

K-EARTH 101′s BOO-gie Bash at the Hollywood Palladium was the perfect kickoff to Halloween week, and KC & The Sunshine Band said it best during the night: “you guys are the best, and we’re having so much fun here!”
