On this day (Oct. 17) in 1970, the Jackson Five started a five week run on the top of the U.S. charts with their No. 1 hit “I’ll Be There,” making it their fourth No. 1 single in the U.S.

In honor of this feat, we’re featuring a classic clip in this week’s Throwback Thursday of the Jackson Five  singing this timeless hit live on Diana Ross’s 1971 TV special, Diana!

Diana introduces the Jackson Five as “the world’s most fabulous group” as they take the stage to audience applause and little Michael takes the spotlight on lead vocals.

The song eventually transitions into a melody of “Feelin’ Alright” and Miss Ross herself slides on camera for a dance battle with Michael towards the end.

Re-watching this classic clip definitely makes you yearn for the good old days of music variety specials. Watch the clip below!
