Did You Know: “Don’t Bring Me Down” By Electric Light Orchestra

Today on ‘Tickets @ 2’ listen for “Don’t Bring Me Down” by the Electric Light Orchestra.

It was the first ELO song that didn’t use strings. After recording it, they fired their string section. leaving 4 members in the band.

ELO leader Jeff Lynne wrote the song late in the sessions for the Discovery album.

It’s about a girl who thinks she’s too good for the guy she’s with.

The song was played to astronauts on the Space Shuttle Columbia as their wake up call on July 6, 1996 – they were in flight longer than expected because of bad weather on earth.

When you hear it between two and three we’ll take caller #10 to win a  pair of tickets to an upcoming L.A. kings hockey game as a guest of the National Brain Tumor Society. Call up at 1-800-232-KRTH.(5784) – Good Luck!
