There was plenty of celebration in the clubhouse after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League West Division title on Monday with a 4-3 win over the Atlanta Braves.
In the clubhouse following the game, the champagne and beer was flowing as the team celebrated advancing to compete in the NLCS. Also in the clubhouse was Dodger legend and Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax, who shared a touching moment with the team’s ace, Clayton Kershaw.
True Blue LA talked to Kershaw about his meeting with the Hall of Famer:
“He’s just happy for us. Sandy is such a great guy. I think he genuinely cares about not only this team but kind of our well being,” Kershaw said. “He cares about us. That’s awesome.
“I have a great relationship with him. I have a ton of respect for him. To get a hug and get a good job from a guy like that, from a guy that’s been there, from a guy that’s done this before and was the best at it for a long time is pretty special.”
The Dodgers move on to the NLCS and will play either the Pittsburgh Pirates or the St. Louis Cardinals, depending on the outcome of that series.
