‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 5’ Release Date Delayed

Captain Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp, has been beached.

Since the Lone Ranger box office flop, which also starred Depp, Disney has decided to delay the release of the fifth installment of the hit franchise Pirates of the Caribbean.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” had originally been slated to hit theaters on July 10, 2015, but according to Variety via CBS News, the studio listed the movie date as “unset.”

According to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, the studio is now looking at a summer 2016 release, blaming issues with the script. However, insiders say the delay is due to the poor performance of Disney’s Lone Ranger, which only earned $29 million opening weekend.

Though the release has been pushed back, shooting is still scheduled to take place in 2014 with Depp reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for the fifth time on film.
