This afternoon’s ‘Tickets @ 2′ song is “Wishing On A Star” by Rose Royce. It was released in 1978 and charted at #3.

This was written by Billie Rae Calvin, a female singer/songwriter who was formerly a member of the Undisputed Truth, who had an early ’70s hit called “Smiling Faces Sometimes.” She wrote it with Barbara Streisand in mind, but she had a connection with producer Norman Whitfield who brought the song to his group Rose Royce instead.

When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller # 10 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets before they go on sale tomorrow to see Danny Elfman’s music from the films of Tim Burton on Halloween night at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
