Did You Know: “Summer In The City” By The Lovin’ Spoonful

Today’s ‘Tickets @ 2′ song is a #1 hit by The Lovin’ Spoonful, it’s “Summer In The City.”

The sound of car horns, jackhammers and traffic was the first time these sounds appeared on a hit song. A year later, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff used the effects when they produced the Soul Survivors hit “Expressway (To Your Heart).”

The song you may remember if you saw the movie Die Hard: With A Vengeance, the song was played throughout the opening credits.

When you hear the horns honk and the sound of jackhammers between two and three we’ll take caller #7 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets before they go on sale this Friday to see Danny Elfman’s Music From The Films Of Tim Burton, on Halloween at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
