You might be surprised at what media mogul Oprah Winfrey says is her worst fear.
For many, these symbolize a celebration, but for Oprah, balloons are her worst nightmare.
“I don’t have a lot of fears. A lot of people don’t know this, but I really don’t like balloons, and for my 40th birthday, my entire staff decided to surprise me,” Oprah revealed to People magazine. “I come downstairs and the entire audience is filled with balloons, and I’m so like ‘oh, when is one going to pop?'”
She added, “I don’t like them because it reminds me of gunfire, so I ‘m freaked out being around balloons and all I could think was I’m in a room full of balloons.”
Oprah explained that maybe as a child in a past life she was killed by gunfire, which would explain why the fear is with her now.
Now the sea of balloons has become a metaphor for facing her fears, which coincidentally is the theme for the October issue of O magazine on news stands Sept. 17th.
