Wing Lam Of Wahoo’s Fish Tacos Talks Going Undercover On ‘Secret Millionaire’
Wing Lam, the co-founder of Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, joined the K-EARTH 101 Morning Show today to talk about his upcoming appearance on ABC’s Secret Millionaire this Sunday.
The premise of ABC’s Secret Millionaire takes self-made business owners, like Wing, and place them in the middle of a charitable organization in an area where they are not known. The ‘secret millionaires’ go undercover with cameras following as someone documenting the charity to learn more about what they do.
“Basically you’re trying to show what they’re doing in their community and so they buy in to the whole program. I come in as a volunteer and I go through the process of learning about what they do,” explained Wing. “Obviously we want to show America that no matter where we are around the country, there are some great people working in amazing organizations with very little money.”
In Wing’s episode Sunday night, he travels to Mobile, AL, a city, the website writes, “still recovering from the devastating Gulf Oil Spill of 2010, with a mission to find deserving people and organizations in need.”
“You find out what their needs are…these people are all pulling for each other and with whatever they have, if they have a little extra they’re giving it to their neighbors, to their friends,” Wing says of the organization he helped. “They share the fact that ‘if we had this, then we can actually service that many more clients.’”
At the end of the episode, Wing presents a surprise of a lifetime to the charity by handing them money out of his own pocket so that they can have the necessary funds to help others.
