When will people learn that public marriage proposals are never a good idea, unless you’re positively certain the answer is going to be ‘yes’?

Earlier this month, we saw one awkward public proposal at a baseball game go wrong when the girlfriend rejected her suitor’s request and stormed off the field. Now in a recent viral video, another couple is in the spotlight for a cringe worthy public proposal that left the man not only with a broken heart, but a painful headache after his girlfriend struck him in the head with a ukelele. Ouch.

While inside a Dubai mall, the man gathers a large crowd of spectators to watch his special message to his girlfriend, but just after he gets down on one knee to propose, the girl tries to stop him, but to no avail. That’s when she snatches a ukelele from one of the musician’s playing in the background and hits the man on the head and walks away leaving him stunned.

Of course there are plenty of red flags in the video that raises speculation of it all being a stunt. For one, the man quotes the famous Jerry McGuire line “you had me at hello” and the line “When you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while” from Bruno Mars’ hit song “Just The Way You Are.”

Secondly, an ill-timed mall train interrupts the man’s proposal midway and displays an advertisement from a gourmet chocolate company with the message that reads “Not So Sweet.”

So what do you think? Is this marriage proposal fail real or fake? Watch the video below and decide!
