Our ‘Tickets @ 2′ song is “We Built This City” by Starship. This was the first single released under the name Starship, previously known as Jefferson Starship, and before that Jefferson Airplane. Grace Slick was the only original memebr of the group after Paul Kantner left.

Elton John’s songwriter Bernie Taupin co-wrote it. This was the first hit Bernie wrote without Elton.

When this hit # 1 in 1985, Grace Slick was the oldest woman to sing lead vocal, shared by Mickey Thomas, on a # 1 single. The title was previously held by Tina Turner.

When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller # 10 to win a pair of tickets to see Pixar In Concert this Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. 1-800-232-KRTH (5784).
