Pop star and Voice coach Usher’s five-year-old son, Usher Raymond V, is in the ICU Unit this morning after a near-death accident on Monday.

Little Usher was playing in the pool while under the care of his aunt, Rena Oden, when the child got his hand stuck in the pool drain after trying to retrieve a toy.

Both Oden and the maid dove in to try and pull out his hand with no success, so they yelled for help to nearby house workers who were able to free his arm and perform CPR on the child until an ambulance arrived.

After rescuing the child from the pool, Oden made a frantic call to 911, and in the audio obtained by TMZ, can be heard saying, “My nephew was in the pool. He went and I couldn’t get him. I tried to get him. They did CPR on him.”

Usher was not home at the time, but made it home in time to ride in the ambulance with his son to the hospital.

The five-year-old, who is the oldest of Usher’s two children with ex-wife Tameka Foster, is expected to make a full recovery.
