Did You Know: “Low Rider” By War

Today’s ‘Tickets @ 2’ song is “Low Rider” by War.

Reflecting a Southern California car culture, “Low Riders” are those cool looking modified cars with hydraulic lifts to lower the ride and make it bounce. Customized with outrageous paint jobs, tiny steering wheels and swivel seats. Most of the band grew up right here in the L.A. area so they know first hand all about low rider culture.

War’s drummer Harold Brown, who was the founding member of the band, said: “We would drive from Pomona, to South L.A., taking side streets and main drags through El Monte, Whittier, Watts, and Compton, eventually ending up in Long Beach, and San Pedro.”

When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller #10 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets to see The Spinners at the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles.
