Stevie Wonder Surprises On Stage At L.A.’s Grand Performances
Downtown’s Grand Performances at Cal Plaza got even more grand this weekend thanks to a surprise appearance from the one and only Stevie Wonder, reports The Los Angeles Times.
Celebrating “Songs In The Key of L.A.,” Stevie surprised the 300+ spectators at the show Friday night with a special performance with the house band of the night, L.A.’s dynamic group Ozomatli.
Stevie took the stage for the show’s finale, singing his rarely performed ode to the city “Land of La La” with Ozomatli, and stayed on stage for a rousing collaboration on the group’s hit “Como Ves.”
The theme of night was to pay tribute to L.A.’s rich and diverse musical history, with performances of select sheet music from the new book “Songs In The Key of L.A.,” written by USC professor Josh Kun in conjunction with the Library Foundation of Los Angeles.
Other musical guests that brought L.A.’s rich music history to life included La Santa Cecilia, I See Hawks in L.A., Ceci Bastida, Rob Gonzalez and the Petrojvic Blasting Company, comedian Cheech Marin and Jackson Browne.
