Funny-woman Ellen DeGeneres has been named the host for the 2014 Oscars, making it her second time to score the prestigious gig after first hosting in 2007.
Ellen took to Twitter Friday announcing the big news, joking, “It’s official! I’m hosting the Oscars. I’d like to thank the Academy, my wife Portia, and oh dear there goes the orchestra.”
There’s no doubt Ellen will do a great job, after all, she was nominated for an Emmy award after her first hosting gig in 2007.
According to the Huffington Post, here are the reasons why Ellen will make a great Oscars host:
- Celebrities love her: It will be easier for her to make jabs at Hollywood’s elite since she’s so well-liked.
- Women won’t cringe: Last year’s host Seth MacFarlane came under some critical backlash for some jokes, so Ellen will be a welcome change to the show.
- Two words; Dance Party: Where ever Ellen goes, a dance party follows!
Bottom line, Ellen is a safe choice to host the awards show, and it’s safe to assume you’ll have a fun time watching her. It all happens on March 2, 2014, where she will also be live-tweeting with fans during the show.
