Elton John is “recovering well” after undergoing an operation to have his appendix removed, according to his publicist. He had the procedure done at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco on Thursday and is believed to be recuperating at his home in Nice, France, according to The Independent.
The singer was forced to postpone his latest European tour after doctors discovered the inflamed appendix in July. He has since been treating the appendicitis with antibiotics leading up to the surgery to have it removed.
Though he’s “incredibly disappointed” in having to postpone his current tour dates, Elton is very grateful for all the love and support he’s received from fans around the world.
The singer recently posted a message on his Facebook thanking fans for their words of support during his recovery. Read Elton’s message to fans below:
I would like to thank the literally thousands of people who have sent me get well cards and messages over the past two weeks. Your well wishes have touched me deeply and will play a big part in my recovery.
I cannot wait to see you all and thank you in person when I resume my concert schedule later this year. In the meantime, please know that I consider myself a very blessed man to have such caring and considerate fans.
With all my love,
Get well soon, Elton!
