Happy Friday! Our ‘Tickets @ 2′ song today is “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen.

Freddie Mercury wrote it while Queen was touring Germany. He wrote it while taking a bubble bath in his room at the Munich Hilton. Peter Hince, the head of Queen’s road crew, recalled to Mojo magazine in September 2009: “The idea for the song came to him while he was in the bath. He emerged wrapped in a towel, I handed him a guitar and he worked out the chords there and then. Fred had a knack for knowing a great pop song.”

This sounded more like Elvis than Queen. It was a different sound for the group. Mercury’s name is in the lyric. He sings, “Are you ready,” and the band sings, “Ready Freddie.” It turned out to be Queen’s first # 1 hit.

We’ll take caller # 7 to win a pair of tickets to see The Monkees at the Long Beach Terrace Theatre, 1-800-232-KRTH.(5784)
