We’ve all experienced getting those annoying telemarketer calls at home (and now even to our cell phones!) during the most inappropriate times; be it early mornings, during dinner or at work. But did you know you can add your number to a ‘Do Not Call’ list to limit those pesky callers?

Through the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the FCC, along with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), established a national Do-Not-Call Registry to help reduce the amount of unwanted calls from telemarketers.

According to FCC.gov, The Do-Not-Call registry does not prevent all unwanted calls. It does not cover the following:

  • calls from organizations with which you have established a business relationship;
  • calls for which you have given prior written permission;
  • calls which are not commercial or do not include unsolicited advertisements;
  • calls by or on behalf of tax-exempt non-profit organizations.

If you want to register your cell or home phone number for free on the Do Not Call List, visit www.donotcall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222.
