Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson can now be added to the ever-growing list of musical acts receiving pre-show protests from the Westboro Baptist Church.

Prior to Anderson’s show at Kansas City, Missouri’s Kauffman Theatre on Saturday night, a group from the Topeka, Kansas based extremist church protested outside the concert, citing Anderson as a “representative of a world of perverse adulterers who have enabled & justified fags.”

They go on to say that “The Bible requires the death penalty for adulterers as well as for sodomites… An adulterous & sinful generation needs to be reminded of God’s standard on marriage more than they need air/food: 1 Man; 1 Woman; 1 Lifetime.”

In the WBC press release, they assert that Anderson’s “real” wife is Jennie Franks, whom he was married to from 1970-1974 and “that new thing you sleep with is your whore, Ian!” Anderson has been married to second wife, Shona Learoyd, since 1976.

Due to their close proximity to Kansas City, the WBC pickets many of the touring concerts in the Kansas City, Missouri area. They currently have a protest planned for the upcoming Taylor Swift concert, claiming in a press release that Swift “works her ‘girl next door’ country-singer shtick, while hopping from one young man to the next and strutting across the world stage like a proud whore.”
