Last week, The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show told listeners about an easy and affordable way to create a homemade a/c unit to help ease the blazing summer temperatures that hit SoCal this weekend.
This do-it-yourself swamp air conditioner was a big hit with all our K-EARTH listeners, so we decided to put it to the test ourselves!
The morning show’s own Tim the “Cabana Boy” went home over the weekend and made the personal a/c unit himself out of a styrofoam cooler, a flexible PVC pipe, a portable fan and some duct tape. All in all, the project cost him about $25.
So, how did it fare when put to the test? With the cooler filled with a bag of ice and the fan plugged in, it definitely worked well enough for close-contact cooling to feel some relief from the hot temps!
Tim was also so kind enough to offer up the very air conditioner he made with his own two hands to one very lucky listener! Listen to the clip below:
See, it’s so easy to make, even we can do it! For instructions on how to make your own styrofoam cooler a/c, click here.
